Suwanee Elementary School recently issued the following announcement.

The Florida FFA Association recently selected 22 student members as finalists in the highly coveted “Stars of Florida” award recognition program.  This program symbolizes the highest competitive recognition for FFA members and their Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) program(s) in six different categories.  Each candidate will be interviewed by a team of FFA, industry and Agriculture Education representatives to determine the winner in each area.  Each finalist, their family and agriculture instructor(s) will be recognized at the 94th Florida FFA Convention to be held at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando. Maddie Carte (Suwannee FFA) and Braxton Young (Branford FFA) were selected as 2 of the 4 finalists competing for the State Star Chapter Degree.  Carte owns cattle and works on her family farm with their cattle herd and crops.  Young works for Wesely Wainwright’s farm where he provides basic farm labor including tractor operations.

Both Carte and Young exhibit livestock.  Next Thursday, these two will interview at their work places with a panel of judges selected from the Florida FFA Assocaition.
