The Appleton Museum of Art, College of Central Florida, announces a special series of Florida-artist workshops. Called the Master Class Series, these workshops are designed for those who wish to advance their skills or try their hand at something a little more challenging.

Beginning Feb. 25, award-winning watercolorist Sue Primeau will teach a four-part watercolor workshop on Saturdays from 1-3 p.m. Learn advanced techniques for painting with this water-based medium. The workshop is $150 for Appleton members; $175 for nonmembers.

On Saturday, April 15, 1-4 p.m., join CF Professor Tyrus Clutter for a printmaking workshop. Using both paper and fabric, learn how to make cyanotype prints that are suitable for framing, using a variety of materials, including botanicals. The workshop is $50 for Appleton members; $75 for nonmembers.

Two workshops are available on Saturday, May 20, with Jacksonville-based artist Hiromi Mizugai Moneyhun, whose work is currently featured at the Appleton in a solo exhibition called “Paper Thin & Shadow Deep.” Learn paper-cutting techniques from the artist to make a Japanese paddle fan inspired by the flora and fauna of Florida. This workshop is being offered from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and again from 2-4:30 p.m. The cost is $75 for Appleton members; $95 for nonmembers.

“Our students will be able to learn new techniques from master practitioners in their respective fields,” said Museum Educator Hollis Mutch. “These three individuals are not only amazing instructors, but accomplished professional artists.”

Advance registration is required. Visit AppletonMuseum.org for full workshop details and to register.

The Appleton Museum, Artspace and Store are open Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, noon-5 p.m. A campus of the College of Central Florida, the Appleton Museum of Art is located at 4333 E.
