Eastern Florida State College recently issued the following announcement.

The EFSC Foundation’s Sixth Annual Backyard BBQ Cook-Off and Family Fest to raise funds for student scholarships has been re-scheduled to Saturday, April 9 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Eastern Florida State College Melbourne Campus.

Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased at the gate.

The event was originally planned for February 19.

“The safety and security of our supporters is our number one priority,” said EFSC Foundation Board Chair, Moses Harvin, II. “With that in mind, given the continued increase in COVID-19 cases in our community, we felt it best to postpone the event.”

The Annual Red, White & Wheels Car Show, always part of the Family Fest event, has also been rescheduled for April 9.

The Backyard BBQ and Family Fest also includes live music featuring the Alter Ego Band, a kid zone, food trucks, vendors and more.

As always, attendees will have the chance to sample and vote on delicious BBQ cooked and served by the numerous teams vying for the coveted People’s Choice Award.

The event’s Grand Champion Sponsors include Community Credit Union and the Carroll Distributing Company.

Registration is still available for BBQ Cook-Off teams, and numerous sponsorship opportunities are still open.
