Eastern Florida State Collegeissued the following announcement on Aug. 2.

Eastern Florida State College will host the EFSC Scholarship Golf Classic on Friday, October 29 at Rockledge Country Club.

The golf classic is a major fund-raiser for Eastern Florida State College student scholarships and will include a breakfast before the shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. An awards banquet will immediately follow the tournament with prizes awarded to teams. “We hated to lose last year’s event if for no other reason than to bring people together to support the college,” Eastern Florida State College golf coach Jamie Howell said. “The fact that we get to have this in October again, I would think it will be sort of like a reunion for a lot of folks. People may not have gotten a chance to see each other much in the past year and so they can catch up on the golf course during this
event, looking forward to it myself.”

In 2019 the Andrew Pickett Law Firm team defeated 30 other teams for the top spot, with Community Credit Union finishing second and Lightholder Building Contractors taking third place. There are still spots open for both teams and sponsors for the event. The entry deadline is Oct. 15 and teams can sign up at easternflorida.edu/go/golf. “You are supporting Eastern Florida State College students and so you know exactly where your contributions are going and you are contributing to the growth of our college students,” Howell said. “It
gives students an opportunity to go to college and get a degree. And you will get to meet some students and see how their donation helps, what could be better than that.”
