The No. 19 Daytona State Falcon women’s soccer team went toe-to-toe in 98 minutes of play but fell 3-2 in overtime against No. 1 Eastern Florida on Saturday.

A tally from freshman, Akari Kishida in the 73rd minute sent the match to overtime, after the Titans got the go-ahead goal in the 41st minute.

Sophomore, Ariana Wilson would get the Falcons on the board in the 28th minute from an assist by Kishida.  This was Wilson’s fifth goal of the season and Kishida’s 11th assist of the season.

Falcons head coach, Hope Clark says, “To answer back, two times, against a very good Eastern Florida team, this team is ranked second in the country, I actually felt like we had some excellent chances in the match to take the lead and put the game away.  We were playing with a very slim roster due to injuries and you hate to lose a heartbreaker like that, but I could not be prouder of what the ladies left out there on the pitch.  They were all in.”

The Falcons (7-4-2) will be back in action on Friday at 7:00pm, as they host the Region 8 tournament. Daytona State enters the Region 8 tournament as the #3 seed.
