As the Wildcats prepare to open preseason camp Friday, preseason honors continue to roll in, with BOXTOROW announcing its 2022 Preseason HBCU Preseason All-American Team Thursday, featuring B-CU defensive back Omari Hill-Robinson and tight end Kemari Averett.

This marks the third preseason honor for Averett, and the second for Hill-Robinson. Both were named All-SWAC first teamers last month

In 2021, Hill-Robinson led the Wildcats secondary and finished tied atop the SWAC with four interceptions. He also added eight pass break-ups. Hill-Robinson finished the season with 36 tackles, 25 of them solo, and a fumble recovery.

Averett, the Wildcats’ number one weapon on offense finished the 2021 season with 52 receptions, 888 yards, and 11 touchdowns. He averaged 17.1 yards per catch and just over 80 yards per game. Averett led the Wildcats in every receiving category. His impressive numbers put him at or near the top of his conference as a receiving threat.

The Wildcats begin training camp on Friday, Aug. 5. B-CU opens the season in one month in Coral Gables as they take on the Miami Hurricanes on Sep. 3.
