Sharks Beat Sailfish In SSC Showdown

After dropping the first set, the Nova Southeastern Sharks Volleyball team got back in the win column on Tuesday evening, defeating the Sailfish of Palm Beach Atlantic in four-sets (22-25, 25-15, 25-23, 25-17). Taylor Stockman (17 kills) and Kate Mihacevich (15) led the Sharks offense.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • The Sharks trailed 12-6 early in the opening set, but a Kate Mihacevich kill sparked a 4-1 run for NSU, putting the score at 13-10.  
  • Nova Southeastern was able to cut the deficit to one (22-21), following another Mihacevich kill and an additional point from Cook, but the Sharks dropped the first set 25-23.  
  • Mihacevich began the second set with back-to-back kills, leading a 5-1 run by the Sharks.  
  • NSU extended its lead to 10-3 in the second set, following a kill from Taylor Stockman and Mihacevich service ace. 
  • NSU sealed the second set win 25-15, closing out the period following a PBA error.  
  • The Sharks continued their early rallies in the third set, scoring six consecutive points, taking advantage of four Sailfish errors.  
  • PBA rallied to take a 15-12 lead over NSU, but Nova Southeastern continued to battle, as Cambry Pope recorded back-to-back kills to tie the set at 17-17.  
  • Trailing 23-21, the Sharks rallied for four straight points, closing out the set 25-21. The run featured points from Jordan Chessar, Mihacevich, and Stockman. 
  • The fourth set was a back-and-forth affair, until the Sharks staked themselves a 13-9 advantage following a service ace from Mihacevich.  
  • The Sharks sealed their win courtesy of two consecutive kills from Stockman, finishing off a four-set victory over Palm Beach Atlantic.  

UPCOMING 

Nova Southeastern Volleyball hosts its 2022 Senior Appreciation Night on Sat., Oct. 29, from the Rick Case Arena, as the Sharks take on Florida Southern. Senior Night festivities are set to begin at 4 p.m.
