Daytona State College issued the following announcement on Oct. 28.
The Falcon women's cross country team heads to Tallahassee on Friday for the FCSAA Region 8 Championships. The Falcons swept the meet in 2020, taking home the individual
title by Harleigh Crist, and the team title. It was the first time in Region 8 history that a school took home both men's and women's individual and team titles. Last year, Crist
finished 200 meters ahead of the nearest competitor. This year, Crist has company with freshman teammate Juliet St Angelo giving the Falcons a 1-2 punch. "Its been great for
them to have each other to push the workouts, and great for us as a team to have two front runners." Coach Judy Wilson commented. But as a repeat of last year, the Falcons
know to look toward their third to seventh runners for help to pull off the team win. The Falcons will try to get at least four, if not five runners in the top 10 of the race. "We talked as
a team about getting three to four All Region spots (top 7), and if they run solid races, this is very possible." Freshman Ayanna Fulton has been improving all season and can
finish All Region, along with sophomores Nathaly Abastida and Angel Khrino. These three runners, along with freshmen Audrey Moros, Makayla Shores, and Kennedy Arterburn
will be crucial in the race for the team title.
