Bethune-Cookman University issued the following announcement on Dec. 16.
Tight End Kemari Averett has been named to the 2021 FCS Athletic Directors Association All-American team, FCS ADA announced Thursday.
The senior grabs his third postseason honor after being named to the 2021 All-SWAC First Team Offense last month, and the HERO All-American second team offense earlier this week.
The Wildcats' number one weapon on offense finished the 2021 season with 52 receptions, 888 yards, and 11 touchdowns. He averaged 17.1 yards per catch and just over 80 yards per game. Averett led the Wildcats in every receiving category. His impressive numbers put him at or near the top of his conference as a receiving threat.
This is the ninth-annual recognition of the FCA ADA All-American team. The honor recognizes the top student-athletes from FCS institutions across 11 different positions. Voting was conducted by a national panel consisting of media and sports information directors.
Nicki Moore, president of the FCS ADA and vice president and athletic director at Colgate University reflected,
"It was an honor for our committee to review each of the remarkable football student-athlete nominees. From service in the community to undergraduate research, these student-athletes are not only performing at the highest level on the field of play - they are also taking full advantage of their educational opportunities in the classroom, on campus and in their communities. On behalf of the Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association, I extend my warmest congratulations and deepest respect to this year's FCS ADA All-America Team members."
