Helpful local traffic information for Speedweeks

4

City of Daytona Beach recently issued the following announcement.

Thousands of people will be in and around Daytona International Speedway between Tuesday, Feb. 15, and Sunday, Feb. 20, for the 2022 Speedweeks. Presented By Advent Health, the yearly series of events culminate with the 64th annual running of the Daytona 500.

To keep traffic disruption at a minimum for visitors and residents during Speedweeks, we recommend everyone coming to or in the Daytona Beach area during that time use this information while making their travel plans.

COVID-19 IMPACTS

No checkpoints are planned for any events during Speedweeks.

Please follow the latest Centers for Disease Control & Prevention COVID-19 guidelines to ensure everyone’s safety, including yours.

IF YOU’RE GOING TO THE RACES…

We recommend anyone coming from beachside to use the Seabreeze Bridge and then Mason Avenue/S.R. 430 for quickest access to the Speedway. The bridges at Main Street and Orange/Silver Beach avenues are also an option, as is U.S. 92/International Speedway Boulevard (ISB), but do expect more traffic if you use ISB.

The Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD) will implement special traffic patterns when needed to ensure the fastest movement of vehicles in and out of the Speedway during races or events. These patterns will vary on how many people are in the facility and can go into effect or removed quickly as needed.

IF YOU’RE NOT GOING TO THE RACES…

We recommend avoiding the roads around Daytona International Speedway when possible, especially ISB/U.S. 92. We expect the heaviest traffic on ISB between Clyde Morris and Williamson boulevards before and after the races.

Drivers looking to avoid race traffic while entering the Daytona Beach area can go either eastbound or westbound using the following roads:

Dunlawton Avenue/S.R. 421 (Port Orange)

Granada Boulevard/S.R. 40 (Ormond Beach)

LPGA Boulevard

S.R. 44 (DeLand/New Smyrna Beach)

If you’re trying to move east or west in Daytona Beach, we recommend using these roads instead of ISB/S.R. 92:

Beville Road between the Pelican Bay subdivision and Ridgewood Avenue/U.S. 1

Mason Avenue between Clyde Morris and Ridgewood/U.S. 1

For those going north or south, we suggest these roads instead of Interstate 95 or Williamson Boulevard:

Atlantic Avenue/S.R. A1A

Clyde Morris Boulevard

Nova Road/S.R. 5A

Ridgewood Avenue/U.S. 1
