Eastern Florida State College recently issued the following announcement.

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team exploded for nine runs in the sixth inning to post a 17-6 victory over Indian River State College Friday afternoon at Bruce Bochy Field.

The Titans evened the three-game series with the Pioneers and will go for the series win Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Lawnwood Sports Complex in Fort Pierce.

After losing the first game, the Titans came out swinging on Friday afternoon.

Down 3-0 in the first inning and one out with Gabriel Cruz at second, Drew Cavanaugh drove a pitch over the right-center field wall for his fourth home run of the season.

Still trailing 3-2 in the second inning, Don McKnight III hit an RBI single with one out to tie the game 3-3. Down 5-4 in the fourth inning, the Titans would take the lead for the first tie in the game. Cruz had an RBI single that tied the game 5-5 and then Jason Blackstone laid down a bunt that scored a run to make it 6-5. Dalton Robinson would later hit a two-run single to make it 8-5.

In the sixth inning the Titans batted around, scoring nine times in the inning. Gino Torrente had a two-run single and Robinson hit a two-run double in the inning.

"Very proud of this team and how they bounced back from Wednesday.," Eastern Florida State Collega baseball coach Steven Brown said. "This conference is so strong and I know we can play with the best. KC pitched really well and our hitters made great adjustments. We have another big game against them tomorrow at their place so we have to be ready to go!"

Eastern Florida State College, who is 13-14-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference, will send Brian Walters to the mound Saturday afternoon in Game 3 on the road.
