HOW IT HAPPENED:
TOP 4th | Offensive proved to be at a premium as both teams combined for just three hits in the opening three innings. Following a hit batter and a sacrifice bunt, though, to lead off the fourth, Florida Tech grabbed the first lead of the night when Tori Szrom roped a double over NSU's Alexis Smith in left to make it a 1-0 ball game.
TOP 5th | Shortstop Tia Williams kept the Sharks within striking distance in the fifth after nailing a would-be run at the plate on a groundball in the infield.
BOT 5th | After flashing the leather in the top of the inning, Williams did just enough with the bat in the bottom of the inning, evening the score with a sacrifice fly to right that scored Samantha Burke from third.
BOT 6th | The Sharks took advantage of a lead-off walk by Emerson Morris in the sixth. Pinch-runner Sidney Swantic moved into scoring position on a Madison Fine sac bunt before Hendricks lined a single just off the edge of the glove of the Florida Tech second baseman to give NSU the 2-1 advantage.
TOP 7th | Florida Tech would put two runners aboard via walk in the seventh, but a lineout to center would eventually secure the complete-game win for Connor, improving her record to 9-1 in the circle this season.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Each team registered five hits apiece on Friday with Ryleigh Langwell (2-for-3) finishing as the only player with a multi-hit effort.
