The Daytona State College women’s soccer team fell to No. 10 Polk State College, 1-0, on Wednesday, Oct. 19 in Lakeland, FL.
The first half passed without a mark on the scoreboard despite the Falcons putting up eight shots. The game would remain scoreless until the 62nd minute of play when the Eagles would score on a header at the back post for the go-ahead goal.
Sophomore goalkeeper, Lucia Guemes picked up nine saves in the match.
“Today was a hard-fought battle between two solid teams, unfortunately we are missing a number of starters and others not at 100% physically, remarked head coach Hope Clark. I asked a number of players to impact our program in different roles today and be comfortable with being uncomfortable. I am beyond proud of the effort and team first mentality that my players put out there today. I am looking forward to having everyone back and healthy by the Region 8 tournament.”
The Falcons will complete their regular season play and final Region 8 match against Eastern Florida on Saturday, October 22nd at 7:00pm in Melbourne, FL.
