Marcus Garrett tied his career-high of 27 points in Bethune-Cookman's 87-85 setback to North Florida Thursday afternoon in Moore Gymnasium.
The Wildcats, who dropped an 88-44 decision to the Ospreys back on Dec. 10, cut a 79-68 deficit to 83-81 on Zion Harmon's jumper with 54 seconds remaining. UNF kept the Wildcats at bay by going 4-5 from the free throw line in the last minute to preserve the win.
Garrett was 9-15 from the field and 8-10 from the line in his second straight 20 point game of the season.
Harmon added 17 points for B-CU, while Derrick Carter-Hollinger scored 13 and Kevin Davis 11.
B-CU trailed 41-40 at halftime, but made seven of its first ten shots in the second half to take a 58-54 lead on a Garrett traditional three-point play with 14:06 left.
UNF led 31-19 with 8:25 remaining in the first half, but B-CU used an 11-0 run to cut to 31-30 on Harmon's jumper with 4:41 left. The Ospreys had a four-point lead, but the Wildcats closed out the half on a Dylan Robertson traditional three-point play to close to 41-40 at halftime.
Oscar Berry led UNF with 23 points.
The Wildcats return to action Dec. 29 at Illinois.
NOTES: B-CU outshot UNF from the field 48.6 percent to 45.2 and also outrebounded the Ospreys 36-35. … Garrett now has eight career 20-point games … Carter-Hollinger had a career-high and has scored double-figures in two of the past three games … B-CU now 3-1 at home. All nine Wildcat players scored and had at least one rebound.
