Sharks Take Down Embry-Riddle

The Nova Southeastern Women's Basketball team recorded their second straight win and improved their overall record to 16-2, defeating Embry Riddle 78-60 on Wednesday evening. Madison Frederick led the way, scoring 21 points while grabbing six rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED  

First Quarter – Midway through the quarter Mackenzie Steele and Madison Frederick knocked down consecutive three-pointers to lead a 6-0 run by the Sharks. As time winded down in the first quarter, Hailey Conley joined the three-point barrage, making a three-pointer of her own. Shortly after Kyannah Grant converted a layup as time expired, extending the Sharks lead to eight. 

Second Quarter – A'lexus Bryant got it started for NSU, scoring back-to-back layups to give the Sharks a 25-15 lead. With just under three minutes remaining, Frederick and Steele were back at it again, knocking down three-pointers to extend NSU's lead heading into the break. 

Third Quarter – At the seven-minute mark, Bryant made her presence felt, scoring layups on three straight possessions, which was followed by an emphatic block on the other end. Zeyno Seren and Skyla Osceola finished the quarter strong for the Sharks as they headed into the final frame, converting a layup and a three-pointer in the closing seconds. 

Fourth Quarter – Conley came out strong, scoring the first five points of the quarter for the Sharks. NSU continued to stay aggressive offensively, ultimately cruising to victory. Nova Southeastern wins tonight's SSC matchup against Embry-Riddle 78-60. 

STATS OF THE MATCH  

Nova Southeastern's bench outscored Embry-Riddle 25 to 9. 

The Sharks had four athletes in double-figures, Madison Frederick (21 points), A'lexus Bryant (12 points), Hailey Conley (10 points), and Mackenzie Steele (10 points). 

UPCOMING  

Nova Southeastern heads back to the Shark Tank to take on Lynn on Saturday, Jan. 21. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. EST.
