Eastern Florida State College issued the following announcement on Dec. 11.

The Eastern Florida State College women’s basketball team defeated Bishop State Community College Saturday afternoon at the Northwest Florida State College Tournament.

The Titans used a big third quarter to pull away and pick up their 10th win of the season, 86-65 in Niceville.

The two teams traded baskets throughout the first quarter and while EFSC was able to take a bit of a lead late in the second quarter, Bishop State cut that lead to two at halftime, 39-37.

But the third quarter saw the Titans take control of the game and L’or Eyeba Mputu’s basket made it a 10-point lead with 5:25 left in the third quarter. The lead reach 17 by the end of the third quarter and the Titans continued to stretch things out in the fourth quarter.

Shadaria Smith and L’or Eyeba Mputu each had 20 points, while Rapuluchi Ngorka finished with 14 points in the win.

Eastern Florida State College, who improved to 10-2 on the season, will be back at Titan Field House Saturday, Dec. 18 at noon against Hillsborough Community College. The Titans edged Hillsborough by two points in the first meeting of the season.
