Daytona State College recently issued the following announcement.

The Daytona State women’s cross country team kicks off their season with a unique event. The Falcons will be competing on the “Worlds Most Famous Beach” in the Run the

Beach Relay scheduled to take place at Frank Rendon Park, 2705 South Atlantic Ave, in Daytona Beach.  The women’s race kicks off at 5:30pm, followed by the men’s race at

6:10pm.  Teams competing are Seminole State College, Lake Sumter, Florida State College at Jacksonville, and Daytona State.  The Falcons are coming off a strong 2020 season

where they won the Region 8 Championships and placed 8th at the NJCAA Div II National Championships, lead by Harleigh (Bilz) Crist.  Crist developed into a strong runner

throughout the 2020 season and is poised to be a top contender at this year’s national meet.  Training alongside Crist are newcomers Juliet St Angelo, Ayanna Fulton, Makayla

Shores, and Kennedy Arterburn.  Coach Judy Wilson enters her fourth year as head coach for the Falcons in the fourth year for the program.  “Our beach relay was a great way to

start the season in 2019.  The women pair up and take turns running a mile on the beach.  Against other teams in our region, it’s just a fun way to get things started.”  Action starts

at 5:30pm with the women’s race, the men follow at 6:10pm.
